AIGA Pittsburgh will walk

AIGA Pittsburgh is continuing to work on our policies, programming, and all of the ways we serve our community. In order to reach the important, valuable goals we’re aiming for, we need to expand our team of volunteers. We invite you to apply to any position that interests you on the Board of Directors, within topic-focused committees, or as a general volunteer. As you read the open role descriptions, keep in mind that you will have the opportunity to shape how you serve the local design community. We welcome new ideas and want to explore new ways of moving our city forward. We hope you will join our team!

A Director commits to serving on the board and fulfilling the responsibilities of their role for a minimum of two years. They are expected to attend monthly, 2-hour meetings and they are able to vote on all proposals and decisions that are presented to the board. 

Committee members fall under a Director’s leadership. They join regularly scheduled committee meetings (schedule and cadence determined by each committee). They are invited to monthly board meetings, but are not required to attend. 

Outside of board and committee meetings, most communication occurs in Slack.

Community Engagement

Community Engagement Director
What you will do at a glance:

  • Connect with organizations, businesses, freelancers, etc to build relationships in our community
  • Direct and support other events in the community; be a link to other programs in the community that we may have the opportunity to partner with
  • Help us define what partnerships best align with our values, mission, and goals

Community Engagement Committee Member
What you will do at a glance:

  • Help connect with organizations, businesses, freelancers, etc to build relationships in our community
  • Support events that we partner with in the community
Sponsorship

Sponsorship Director
What you will do at a glance:

  • Find sponsors in the Pittsburgh area to support our chapter to help us make our events free to everyone
  • Define guidelines and structures for sponsorships that provide value on both ends
  • Work with other board and committee members to generate and implement fundraising ideas and efforts
  • Create and keep relationships with organizations (non-profits, corporations, agencies, etc.) in the community to ensure their continued support
Civic Engagement

Civic Engagement Director
What you will do at a glance:

  • Lead chapter efforts for civic engagement
  • Lead the civic engagement committee
    Bring new ideas of civic engagement to the committee and lead implementation
  • Collaborate on updating and improving AIGA Pittsburgh’s policies and handbook
    Help hold the board accountable to their values and mission to create an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere

Civic Engagement Committee Member
What you will do at a glance:

  • Collaborate on updating and improving AIGA Pittsburgh’s policies and handbook
  • Support events and projects introduced by other committee members and the Director
  • Bring new ideas of civic engagement to the team and lead implementation
  • Help hold the board accountable to their values and mission to create an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere
Education

Education Director
What you will do at a glance:

  • Lead education focus for the chapter and collaborate with committee members
  • Implement yearly goals set by the education committee
  • Contribute and implement programming ideas that will help us cultivate and support a network of educators across the region
  • Create and grow relationships with educators
  • Help design education programs become/stay relevant by calling attention to opportunities and supplying them with the tools and support they need to teach effectively

  • Support the education director by growing partnerships with university student design clubs and educators
  • Contribute and implement ideas for programming to create higher engagement with students and educators
